I've been terminally online for ~40 years, long before the big endless scroll. I've seen things some people wouldn't believe. 1200 baud modems on fire from Usenet flame wars. I watched c-news servers stutter at the mere mention of Kibo. All those moments will be lost in AI slop, like tears in rain. Time to deshittify.

For the humour impaired amongst us, this is a shitpost poll (shitpoll?).
Rooted in a half serious observation about how far off in echo-chamber la-la-land that the formal art community can be with its rituals and such.
it's November in southern Alberta and I hear a neighbour mowing their lawn. I guess they could just be sucking up some leaves -- I've done that before.
Tired of feeding the mice. They are apparently experts at cleaning peanut butter bait off the classic snap traps.
Remember the days of aluminum chassis Packard Bell modems that got hot enough to use as a coffee warming plate? Pepperidge Farms rembers. #80s
@the5thColumnist Second choice, and I've never heard of it before. Prairie boy in his 50s.
Whacky things you see when out and about here. #yql
Remember the days of crt monitors and being unable to stop yourself from taking over a coworker's machine briefly to fix their insane flickering refresh rate?
Maybe just a little on the spectrum here, but it sure bugged the crap outta me to see them living with the strobe effect from hell.
Timeline containment breach.
Giving PeakTo photo indexer another try. Last time, (I dunno was it last winter or fall?) it continually ground my hard disk to dust even after the week long first time indexing run. (May or may not be exaggerating here)
@idoclosecuts
I personally don’t mind. Paying for software (in the old days) what bothers me most is the require internet access - and need to stay up to date at an unreasonable pace;
Bingo.

@idoclosecuts Your situation is about the polar opposite of mine. I'm a hobbyist photographer who has never gotten down in the weeds of Photoshop levels of manipulation. Aperture at first and then C1, with a dabble in DxO (recently uninstalled).
I'm not liking the OS and software upgrade treadmill. My desktop is old enough now (2017, running Ventura) that it doesn't get any support from Apple other than very occasional security updates for Safari and the like. I may have to start blocking its access to the internet soon and do all the web things from just the newer laptop.
At that point I'll see about a permanent license (frozen in time for features and support) as they are no doubt going to drop support for that version of MacOS.
Watching the baseball game and a hockey fight almost broke out.
@ghorwood It's the paperwork to fill out before you can even get to the tables to pick up the ballots.
