I've been terminally online for ~40 years, long before the big endless scroll. I've seen things some people wouldn't believe. 1200 baud modems on fire from Usenet flame wars. I watched c-news servers stutter at the mere mention of Kibo. All those moments will be lost in AI slop, like tears in rain. Time to deshittify.
@GeePawHill Wait, I can do that? Totally had forgotten. :p I do full screen for photo stuff, to keep unwanted colors and brightness from messing up my perception.
We don't have reliable bidirectional comms between west side and south side as of yet, but we're getting there. One of the west side repeater owners has one on an omni and another on a directional beam of some kind and has pointed it at South and North at times with some success.
Bit by bit, it's getting there, maybe we'll have good connectivity before I lose interest and squirrel! back to other hobbies.
*Merkins?* A Wikipedia article@pdmckone Yes, 110% on purpose this word for the people of the perpetual warmonger failed state south of Canada. They like to hide behind 'common decency' but it is all a lie.
Aw, shit. Thought I had blocked flipboard dot social, but there were some septic sucker service 💩🚚 type ads from there that just snuck into my feed. <BONK>
I read about the online forum solely populated by bots today.
I wonder if they have a sub forum on artist statements or other types of bafflegab. It'd be bafflegab on top of bafflegab. It's bafflegab all the way down.
That thing where your ISP has expired certificates on their customer support site. Of course their telephone queue wait estimate is 45+ minutes. #TekSavvy
So much vibe coding going on in the maker circles I am following online. Very off-putting. I mean, it gets them going in the direction they think they want to go, but at what cost?
They don't understand what they've (partially) built and are asking for help. Umm, no help from me. No thanks, that is some thin ice on top of the liquid manure pit you're skating on there.
Who has two thumbs, is a retired #sysadmin , and spun up a LibreNMS instance solely to gather evidence for when he calls the ISP about their sporadic outages? This guy, right here. #SkipStraightToSupportLevelThree
Started watching "The Night Manager" (2016) this week. Three episodes in and loving it. Not sure where I saw mention of it, somewhere on the fedi, but thank you whomever that was.
Oh thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I have finally finished "The Nights Dawn" trilogy. 3168 pages officially, but on an e-reader it was many many many more. (yay for e-readers and being able to choose fonts and font sizes!)
I don't hate the series. The stories were hard to get into in places, some I liked more than others of course, but all were good in the end. The length of time it took me to get through it in tiny chunks was off-putting. I just don't have the concentration ability to plow through an entire book in one (or a few) sessions anymore.
Chipping away at reading a large book, third in its series. I both like the story lines and loath that it’s so huge in page count. It’s taking forever. (The Naked God by Peter F. Hamilton)
