Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons.

Simple possession of them would very likely have avoided a conventional war costing them hundreds of thousands of lives.

Recent American rhetoric about Canada is an exact mirror of Putin's "Not a real country" foreshadowings.

Canada could build even a few small nuclear weapons in months, for a tiny fraction of our F-35 budget. And short-range drone delivery systems that would have many other uses. But never have to use them.

But, should we?

@RoyBrander Doesn't even need to be more than a dirty bomb, or a dummy that they wouldn't know for sure is a dummy.

@scuttlebutt

I suspect it doesn't need to be more than an announcement.
And that the announcement is that we're asking for American help, to help arm their allies who buy so much of their arms. We've just decided to improve our defence with nukes.
No discussion of possible targets, obviously. Because we're allies.
So they'll help us build them, right?

That's what's so delicious.
