@acf We have some metal 10 foot wide ramps in the neighbourhood here. They're hollow underneath and people that have them can be seen using poles or high pressure water to clear the leaves out in the fall. (That's to aid water drainage to the storm water drains which are typically at the corners of the street).
I don't know if they're actually permitted by city bylaw but they exist.
Plastic wouldn't last here, with the few -30C to -40C and many -20C weeks we get in the winter.
